Join Soroptimist Hutchinson member Kim Norwood at the Virtual 47th Soroptimist Convention to be held online on July 22-23. Others who have attended Soroptimist conferences in the past have come away with new ideas and enthusiasm to share here in Hutchinson.
The keynote speaker will be Malala Yousafzai, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize when she was 18 years old, making her the world’s youngest Nobel Prize laureate. She is known for human rights advocacy, especially the education of women and children in her native Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northwest Pakistan, where the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan had at times banned girls from attending school. Her advocacy has grown into an international movement, and according to former Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, she has become the country’s “most prominent citizen.
